We are getting more than a little obsessive about the weather forecast, which has been nothing but "areas of smoke" for well over a month, so seeing even a 20% chance of rain for Sunday afternoon/evening and perhaps fingers crossed, a greater percentage into early next week was a major change.
Smoke is still bad today, and looking out to the east I can't see town. This is a valley inversion of a different type than we usually see in winter, with fog covering the area below us. In the winter valley inversions, the fog crystals in the trees are pretty for the first several days, but the absence of sun soon makes even that tedious. The smoke is worse though, with many staying housebound for health reasons that a layer of cold fog would not cause.
