A doe with this year's and last year's offspring came by to browse on discarded squash vines.
During a hike on the 10 acres in November, the dogs and I rediscovered some of the remains of Mr. Elk, the 5 point bull elk who expired from natural causes a couple of years ago. A long section of thoracic and lumbar spine with the sacrum remained draped around a tree trunk, just a little ways from the tree he died under.
