The last two days have been spent working outside, limbing trees and hauling firewood and woody debris off the hills behind and below the house. We're working with a Bitterroot Resource Conservation and Development grant that is up at the end of the month, so we need to finish those areas. Although we'be been working on our defensible space since we built the house in '05, after the fire last year on the mountain, we have made a push to get the places close to the house fully cleaned up.
I was working on the steep slope below the house, which meant I had to crab along the hillside to get to some of the trees so I could remove their lower limbs. Luckily, with the fir trees you can just snap off the dead branches; the pines take more effort. A great whole body work out, so I was quite tired by the end of the day.
